Ohio House Speaker William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) released the following statement in regard to today’s decision by the Supreme Court of Ohio to dismiss the mandamus action filed by JobsOhio against the Ohio Department of Commerce Director David Goodman:

“I respectfully disagree with today’s decision by the Ohio Supreme Court. The Ohio House of Representatives enacted JobsOhio legislation to assist struggling Ohioans in getting back to work and to bring needed business back to our state. Sadly, the Court’s decision will hinder that process and put our citizens at a disadvantage as they try to find jobs.

“A favorable decision would have affirmed the constitutionality of JobsOhio and quickened the process of providing revenue for JobsOhio so that it could better create jobs and assist businesses that are looking to expand and move to our state. Although the ruling will delay Ohioans in getting jobs, we must continue to do all that we can to provide a business-friendly environment of job creation throughout the state.”
