Chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Dave Hall (R-Millersburg) recently announced that the committee will be holding a special subcommittee at the Ohio State Fair on Monday, July 30th.

The meeting will serve as an opportunity for members of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee to showcase the work they’ve done this General Assembly, as well as interact with the public.

“The committee and I look forward to sharing with the public the work that has been accomplished since the beginning of the 129th General Assembly,” said Representative Hall.  “From working on legislation that makes responsible use of the deposits of Marcellus and Utica shale that are underneath our feet to crafting reasonable regulations on exotic animals in the State of Ohio, the committee has worked hard on passing legislation that is mindful of the limits of the power of state government.”

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the east side of the Rhodes Auditorium and will be divided into four segments:  introduction of the committee members, an overview of the 129th General Assembly agriculture committees, testimony from invited guests, and a question-and-answer session with members of the public about agriculture in Ohio.

Testimony is scheduled to be given by Virgil Strickler of the Ohio Expositions Commission; Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Jim Zehringer; Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels; Jack Fisher and Beth Vanderkooi of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation; Bobby Moser, the Ohio State University vice president for Agriculture administration and dean of the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences; Dr. Tony Forshey, State Veterinarian; and Dr. Steve DeBruin, state veterinarian for the Ohio State Fair.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
