On Monday, June 11, 2012 local elementary school students were invited to the state capitol to be honored as “legislators for a day.” Participating students were Angel Campbell, Kirk Ramsey, Meredith McCauley, and Gabrielle Price. These students were selected as winners in the spring essay contest sponsored by State Representative Ron Maag.

The group spent the afternoon learning about the legislative process, touring the Capitol and casting a vote on the floor of the House Chamber. The students also had the opportunity to question Representative Maag about his duties in Columbus during their private luncheon.

Representative Maag joined with local educators throughout Warren County to help launch the essay contest. Students were asked to compose a short essay about a famous individual from Warren County and how they influenced both the county and the state of Ohio. A panel of legislators determined the winning essays.
