Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) is pleased to announce that Marilyn Slaby (R-Copley) today was sworn in as state representative of the 41st Ohio House District, filling the seat that was recently vacated by her husband, Lynn Slaby (R-Copley) following his appointment to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

“Representative Slaby will be an exceptional addition to our caucus and to the House of Representatives,” Speaker Batchelder said. “Her experience in the private and public sector, as well as in education and business ownership, make her a well-rounded and knowledgeable individual who, I believe, will be a very valuable member of this fine institution.”

“I’m honored that I have been selected to replace my husband,” said Representative Slaby. “It feels good to be back in the House. I know we have many challenges ahead.”

Representative Slaby is a retired educator and served for 10 years as an employee with the Summit County Board of Elections. Previously, she served as state representative of the 41st House District in 2004, where she was vice-chair of the House Education Committee and member of the Health and Local Government committees. Additionally, she has owned and operated two small businesses over the years. She also serves as vice-chair of the Summit County Central Committee and is an elected member of the Republican State Central Committee.

Mr. and Mrs. Slaby have three children and four grandchildren.
