State Representative Andrew O. Brenner (R-Delaware) today announced that he will present awards and letters of recognition to the Ohio Wesleyan University men’s soccer team for winning the NCAA Division III national championship.

On Saturday, January 28th, Rep. Brenner will attend OWU’s men’s basketball game in Delaware at 3 p.m. and present certain letters to the soccer players at halftime. There, he will also formally invite the team, to a February 14th ceremony at the Ohio House of Representatives, where Rep. Brenner will present four Ohio House resolutions to the team and certain members.

One resolution will recognize the team as national champions. A second will recognize player Travis Wall, who earned first-team All-America honors from the NSCAA. A third will recognize assistant coach Brandon Bianco, who was named Assistant Coach of the Year for NCAA men’s soccer programs in the Great Lakes Region.

Finally, a fourth resolution will be awarded to coach Jay Martin, who, with this 608th victory, became the all-time winningest coach in college men’s soccer. Further, Martin has been named Regional Coach of the Year 15 times, NSCAA national Coach of the Year twice, received the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association’s Honor Award and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Honor Award.
