Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) has announced that the House Republican Caucus unanimously selected Dorothy Liggett Pelanda of Marysville to serve as state representative of the 83rd Ohio House District. She was sworn in during today’s House session.

“Representative Pelanda is an outstanding individual who will be a wonderful addition to our caucus,” said Speaker Batchelder. “Her expertise in the legal realm and her extensive work within the community will give her valuable insight on some of our state’s most important issues.”

“The screening panel was very impressed by Representative Pelanda and her experience in public service,” said Speaker Pro Tempore Lou Blessing (R-Cincinnati), who served as chairman of the screening panel. “While we interviewed many qualified candidates, she was the best candidate to represent the people of the 83rd District.”

A lifelong resident of Marysville, Pelanda has spent 30 years in the legal profession, currently working as a family law attorney in her private practice. She also established Criminal Indigents of Union County (CIUC) to provide legal representation to indigent individuals charged with felonies in the Common Pleas Court. She serves on the Union County Public Law Library Board and previously served as a two-term president of both the Marysville Library Board and U-CO Industries in Union County. She is a member of the Union County Chamber of Commerce, the Union County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and Marysville First United Methodist Church.
