The Fremont Ross High School Leadership Class visited with State Representative Rex Damschroder (R-Fremont) as part of their field trip to Columbus today to learn about the operation of state government.
“It was truly a pleasure to welcome the Leadership class and their instructors to Columbus today,” Damschroder said. “It is always so encouraging to see youth in our area taking an interest in how to be leaders and learning the functions of our government.”
The students agenda included a meeting with Rep. Damschroder, State Auditor Dave Yost, Attorney General Mike DeWine, and the legislative staffs of Governor John Kasich and Secretary of State Jon Husted. Additionally, the group took a tour of the Ohio Statehouse and attended a session of the Ohio House of Representatives, where the group witnessed the Ohio State University Football team being honored on their undefeated season. The Fremont Ross Leadership Class is instructed by Ross history teacher Mike Gilbert.
“I would always encourage school groups in the district who are interested in state government to contact us for field trip opportunities and we’d be happy to accommodate them,” Damschroder continued.
