State Representative Cheryl Grossman (R-Grove City) has announced that the State Controlling Board approved the release of $1.5 million for infrastructure improvements and $340,685 for renovation and repairs at the new school building being constructed at the Ohio State School for the Blind’s campus.

“I am pleased that we are able to provide this important funding to support the needs at the Ohio State School of the Blind,” Rep. Grossman said.

When complete, the project will create six new dorms and new classrooms for the students of OSSB. The entire project is expected to be completed next spring, and the new classrooms would be used for the 2013-2014 school year.

OSSB opened its doors in 1837 and was the first public school for the blind in the United States. It is dedicated to the intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth of students with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities.
