Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) recently appointed State Representative Craig Newbold (R-Columbiana) to serve as chairman of the Technology in State Government Study Committee, a bipartisan committee that will solicit feedback from Ohioans on utilizing technology to improve state government efficiency and services.

“Ohio has been considered the rust belt of America, but I believe Ohio can be the tech belt of America,” Newbold said. “The study committee on technology is a great step forward in evaluating our state’s current use of technology and evaluating methods that could end up providing better services at a lower cost to the people of Ohio.”

Representative Newbold will be joined by Representatives Dovilla, Henne, Brenner, Conditt, Celeste, Phillips, and Stinziano in serving on this committee, which will meet throughout the summer and early autumn.

The committee is scheduled to meet at the following times and locations:
  • August 31st at 10 a.m. in Columbus (Ohio Statehouse, room 121, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio)
  • September 14th at 2 p.m. in Columbus (Ohio Statehouse Room 121, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio)
  • September 15th at 10 a.m. in Columbus (Ohio Statehouse Room 121, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio)
  • September 20th at 2 p.m. in Columbus (Ohio Statehouse Room 121, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio)
The Technology in State Government Committee will allow the people of Ohio to have a chance to speak to the Ohio House of Representatives about using technology to become more efficient in state operations, reduce overhead and red tape, and improve responsiveness to the taxpayers. Upon completing the necessary research, the committee intends to put forth an executive summary and possible recommendations for the Legislature.
