Canton Repository Letter to the Editor, 8/14/2011
After reading the letter “Where are jobs GOP promised?” (Aug. 6), I am compelled to point out how Ohio’s economic circumstances — especially compared with the rest of the nation — are consistently improving, thanks to the hard work of Ohio’s Republican leadership.
More than 37,000 Ohioans have found work since January, and that number continues to grow by the day.
The Legislature has passed numerous bills to create jobs and improve the business climate, from creating the lean economic development entity JobsOhio and establishing the pro-business program InvestOhio to creating the Common Sense Initiative to unshackle businesses from government regulations.
As a result of these efforts, Ohio was the most improved state on CNBC’s “Top States for Business 2011,” jumping 11 spots in the cost-of-doing-business ranking and nine spots overall.
Standard & Poor’s Rating Services raised Ohio’s outlook to AA+ due to our success in creating a balanced, sustainable budget.
Our efforts as a Legislature to protect the livelihoods of Ohioans are paying off, and we are steadily moving Ohio forward one job at a time. We are showing the rest of the nation — and the world — that with capable leadership, the state of Ohio is an economic force to be reckoned with.
