State Representative Al Landis (R-Dover) today announced the House passage of Senate Bill 300, which designates two memorial highways and authorizes that suitable markers be erected along each highway.

Senate Bill 300 designates a portion of State Route 800, beginning at the northeast border of Freeport in Harrison County and extending to the intersection of State Route 800 and State Route 799, as the “Trooper George Conn Memorial Highway.”

“I am honored to have a hand in honoring the memory of a very deserving fallen patrolman,” said Representative Landis. “Trooper Conn gave his all to protect the citizens of Harrison County, and we will be reminded of his selfless sacrifice every time we drive down State Route 800.”

State Highway Patrol Trooper George Conn was killed while on duty near Freeport on September 27, 1937.
