Discusses and learns about issues surrounding Ohio’s prominent manufacturing industry

State Representative Al Landis (R-Dover) recently visited the Timken Company’s bearing plant in New Philadelphia. The representative spent a couple hours touring the facility and discussing the issues that currently face local manufacturers, particularly short-term and long-term state issues.

“The New Philadelphia plant is so important to our community and state,” said Representative Landis. “It has been here since 1953, and they’ll be celebrating their 60th year there next year. It is my goal to do everything in my power to help ensure the plant remains here for another 60 years and will still be competitive in the global market.”

“We’re pleased whenever we have the opportunity to talk with our elected officials and show them our plants firsthand,” said Peggy Claytor, manager of government affairs for Timken. “A visit to our facilities and a chance to talk with our associates in their workplace offer legislators a more thorough view of Timken as well as an understanding of the opportunities and challenges Timken faces in the global marketplace.”

The Timken Company is a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered bearings, alloy steels, and related components and assemblies.
