Searching for a job can be a frustrating and daunting process. Similarly, sometimes businesses have difficulty filling job positions because they cannot effectively advertise the opening.

That process will hopefully become easier for thousands of employers and employees in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has partnered with the job-search website, Monster.com, to simplify the process of posting and applying for jobs.

A new website, OhioMeansJobs.com, streamlines this process by allowing jobseekers and employers to quickly look through thousands of job openings throughout the state based on a person’s desires and interests. People looking for work in Ohio can post their resumes on the site, where businesses looking to hire then have the ability to search for suitable applicants.

It is also available as an app on any iPhone, iPad or Android devices free of charge. It was introduced earlier this year. Additionally, OhioMeansInternships.com provides many of the same resources for younger individuals who are looking to get their foot in the door and gain real-world experience.

The websites allow people to sort through job postings based on criteria like job title, location, companies and radius from home. Jobseekers can save a lot of time and energy by reducing the scope of their searches, making the process seem much less intimidating.

By providing a one-stop search location for both businesses and employees, they can feel greater assurance that they are seeing all positions available in the state, as opposed to looking through multiple websites and newspapers in order to find what they are looking for.

OhioMeansJobs.com and OhioMeansInternships.com are both great resources that I believe will make a positive impact in growing our state’s economy and getting Ohioans back to work. I encourage you to check it out.
