On Saturday, July 21st, State Representative Christina Hagan (R- Alliance) partnered with the Greater Stark County Urban League and AT&T to sponsor the “Smart Phones for Seniors” cell phone training event.
The event was designed to familiarize seniors with new technologies, specifically demonstrating how the use of smartphones can be valuable for various tasks ranging from managing medical appointments to keeping in contact with friends and relatives.
“I was thrilled to join this partnership with the Urban League and AT&T, and to participate in the ‘Smart Phones for Seniors’ event at the Greater Stark County Urban League Office,” said Rep. Hagan. “As I work to connect with constituents in my district, my office and I often communicate through email and social media outlets. I hope that more seniors will feel comfortable utilizing technology as a result of this training.”
Despite just recently partnering with Rep. Hagan, the Greater Stark County Urban League has worked with AT&T for years through its Lifeline Program, Accelerator Computer Training Programs, and many more efforts to help inner city residents to keep up with the growing use of technology.
“The Greater Stark County Urban League is always looking to partner with local organizations on initiatives important to our membership,” said Vince Watts, President and CEO of the Greater Stark County Urban League. “‘Smart Phones for Seniors’ is a great opportunity for us to work with Representative Hagan and AT&T to educate our senior members about technology and how it can better improve their lives.”
AT&T, the Greater Stark County Urban League, and Rep. Hagan will be working on future events and opportunities. Please contact the Urban League for more information: Vince Watts at (330)456-3479 x126 by e-mail at vwatts@starkcountyul.org or visit us online at starkcountyul.org.
