Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) has announced the unanimous House passage of Substitute House Bill 325, which designates 33 memorial highways and authorizes that suitable markers be erected along each highway.

House Bill 325 includes the designation of Interstate Route 75 running through Lucas, Wood, Hancock, Allen, Auglaize, Shelby, Miami, Montgomery, Warren, Butler and Hamilton counties as the “Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Trail.”

“This memorial highway designation honors the accomplishments and history of those brave African Americans who flew aircraft in the Army Air Corps during World War II, as well as the many others in maintenance and support staff,” said Speaker Batchelder. “These individuals helped to shape the course of our American history and overcome segregation that was so prevalent during the time.”

House Bill 325 will now be sent to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
