In honor of Ohio Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, State Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) joined representatives from Komen for the Cure, The James, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio legislature and breast cancer survivors at an event in recognition of Ohio Mammography Day.
“It was an honor to speak today at this important event,” Representative Gonzales said. “With the advancement of early detection methods, women can now be more prepared than ever in the fight against breast cancer. We have made great strides, but we continue forward to a day when breast cancer no longer haunts the lives of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters.”
Ohio Mammography Day is held on the third Thursday of October to promote the importance of identifying breast cancer in its earliest stages. Speakers at today’s event included Representative Gonzales, Dr. Richard Goldberg from the James, Senator Jim Hughes, Barbara Pryor from the Ohio Department of Health, and Mary Mertz, a breast cancer survivor.
