State Representatives Andrew Brenner (R-Powell) and Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) recently presented a House commendation to the St. Francis DeSales High School baseball team for winning the OHSAA Division II state baseball championship.

The team defeated Akron Archbishop Hoban 9-8 in the June 4th final game, marking the team’s first baseball title in more than 30 years.

“I am extremely proud to commend these players for their extraordinary achievement, which is reflective of DeSales generally,” Rep. Brenner said. “They do an incredible job of preparing children for personal and professional success. I’ve been so proud to work with the parents and officials there on several issues, because you really know you’re dealing with professionals.”

“I am very proud of these students and their coaches and wish them continued success,” said Rep. Gonzales.

Reps. Brenner and Gonzales presented House commendations to the players during a ceremony at the St. Francis DeSales High School Gymnasium. Rep. Brenner awarded commendations to 2nd House District residents Derek Traini, Alex Perrine, Jack Miller, Bryan Stopar, Chris Kurek, Brad Bohus, Nick Eltzroth, Ryan Maloney, Daulton Nebraska, and head coach Tom Neubert. Rep. Gonzales awarded commendations to 19th House District residents Tony DelMonte, Brennan Schlabig, TJ Alas, and assistant coach Matt Berndt.
