State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) today announced that the State Controlling Board has released $1 million from the Third Frontier Research and Development Project Fund to Energy Focus, Inc. The funds will be used to advance the Solon-based company’s Cost-Effective Real-Time Intelligent Collective Knowledge Environmental Transmitter (CRICKET) System project.

The Ohio Third Frontier Sensors Program project will create a unique lighting sensor for wide deployment in commercial buildings to improve lighting control, save energy, and reduce construction and lighting upgrade costs.

“I am extremely pleased to see funding granted to this well-deserving company that is located within the 17th House District.” Anielski said. “In the current economic environment, it is crucial that we assist the business community as much as possible so that they may continue to retain and create jobs.”

Founded in 1985, Energy Focus is a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of energy-efficient lighting solutions for the commercial, retail, grocery, military, museum, and pool and spa markets.
